Russia has resumed buying pure fuel from Turkmenistan, more than three years after chopping off purchases of the Central Asian country’s key export.
The resumption was announced Monday by state natural fuel company Turkmengaz. Russian state pure fuel monopoly Gazprom confirmed the transfer, Russian information businesses stated.
No particulars were given concerning the amount of fuel that Russia would buy. Previous to halting imports in 2016, Russia had been the most important buyer for Turkmen fuel, shopping for about 10 billion cubic meters a yr.
Russia’s buy halt got here amid a stoop in international prices. The lack of exports to Russia was a big blow to the Turkmen financial system.
